Simon McBurney is Archdeacon Robert
The smooth, urbane and eloquent Archdeacon is officially Adam’s moral tutor, however his fearsome managerial style is more terrifying than nurturing. He’s the Bishop’s eyes and ears in the parish and has a knack for appearing at the most inopportune moments. Whether it’s a Sunday service visit on the day Adam has his smallest congregation since arriving in London, or catching Adam unawares in the pub or when he’s clutching a spliff during Colin’s Rastafari phase.
Simon McBurney is a highly acclaimed multi award-winning actor, writer and director. He was awarded an OBE in the 2005 Queen’s New Year’s Honours List for his services to drama.
He is a founder and artistic director of the influential and famously inventive theatre company Complicite. Their award-winning productions are performed throughout the world and Simon most recently directed and appeared in Endgame. He is currently directing opera A Dog’s Heart.
Simon recently appeared in Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood, and plays Kreacher in the forthcoming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Other screen credits include The Golden Compass, Friends with Money, The Last King of Scotland, Bright Young Things, The Manchurian Candidate and The Vicar of Dibley. He also wrote on Mr Bean’s Holiday.
